God’s promises, spoken in the first person and in the present tense. Seven strongholds, seven affirmations each, all drawn from Breaking Strongholds of the Soul with the passage each one comes from named beneath it.

Find the one that meets where you actually are. Say it out loud, morning and night, for a week before you judge whether it is doing anything. Take it with you — nothing here needs to be bought.

Who does the work

These are not incantations, and the power is not in saying them. Christ is the foundation. The Holy Spirit is the One who changes a person, Scripture is the instrument He uses, faith is our response, and obedience is the fruit. Declaring a promise does not make it true — it agrees with what God has already said, and holds it in front of the mind long enough for the Spirit to press it into the places that still argue back.

Which is why the reference under each line matters as much as the line itself. Every passage means what it means in its own context, and no declaration should ask a verse to promise more than it actually does. Read the passage. If the affirmation and the text ever part company, the text wins.

When you are afraid

God has not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. I walk in boldness, fully equipped by His Spirit.
